The height of American falls is 176 foot and of Canadian part is 167 foot.  Canadian part has brink length of  2600 ft and American part has only 1075 ft as brink length. The third one called  Bridal Veil Falls is lying between these two great parts of Niagara Falls.

The Source of Niagara Falls

The source of Niagara Falls is the Great Lake Erie from where the Niagara river originates. The great lake Erie has vast water surface area of about 26000 Km. During winter season the huge amount of snow falls along the total surfacearea of the lake and it will melt in summer and flow as massive Niagara river. Besides this, Detroit flowing into the lake Erie can be told as the another source of Niagara Falls.
